Political Parties

I grew up thinking,
Parties were for fun.
Everyone get together,
Imbibe a bit,
Talk and dance,
Eat too much,
On the run.

But joining,
A political party,
Is really a different,
Kind of game.

Where everything,
Is dead serious,
You must swallow,
Your personal choices,
Accept the party line.

It's all or nothing,
To party with them,
Where the only goal,
Fortune and fame.

To hell with the,
Real issues faced,
The party agenda,
Traced and retraced.

It's all about money,
Not about what's right,
Stray from the agenda,
And you're in for a fight.

So, stay independent,
Don't join them at all.
Don't donate to them,
And watch them fall.

Party all night long,
To election night's call.

Corporate PACs often give both parties
the same amount to curry favor.
