Winter Lullaby

Hush, little one, no need to cry,
Mama's right here, so close by.
To hold you and feed you well,
throughout this cold winter spell.

To tuck you in tightly warm,
when storm threatens fright or harm.
sweetly dreams of what's to come,
knowing you're safe with mom.

So little one, don't fuss and fret,
if howling wind rattles the pane.
When you awake to morning light,
the window will show frost's refrain.

I have no children to sing to, but perhaps someone
will put this to melody and mothers will sing it to
their precious ones when winter comes.
