Flower

Spring flowers the hope of Texas,
on hard scrabble, depleted, ground.
In its own little niche of paradise,
that briefly, annually, comes around.

It turns the hillsides into waves of blue,
reminiscent of a landlocked ocean view,
the likes of which never reach that hue.
interspersed with Indian paintbrush notion.

While sprites of the same name abound,
in varying shades of blue to be found,
blooming seasons the world's 'around,
everything Texas better by the pound.

So, ever chance gets you by Brenham,
that south-central Texas German town.
In the time of the year near April 1,
a gem of a spectacle will erase a frown.

A metaphor for flourishing, starting over and
flowering in spring. We couldn't go to see the
early bloom this spring, so Beh's brother arrived
at sunrise with his powerful camera for 51 pictures.
