Were You There for Me?

I was there for you,
the day the ice broke,
and into life you passed.

I was there for you,
the day the hurricane blew,
and the wreckage found you out.

I was there for you,
the day the sun broke through,
blinding all your fears.

I was there for you,
the day you took the test,
and disregarded all the rest.

I was there for you,
at that job interview,
where your die was cast.

I was there for you,
the day they arrested you,
just desserts at last.

Were you there for me?
