Where have you gone, Patti Page?

Heat from within,
mortal sin,
wavering in the distance.

Heat from without,
with a doubt,
shimmering in resistance.

Mind grows dim,
thoughts are grim,
vaguely in persistence.

Chances are slim,
on the rim,
all life's existence.

Delirium comes,
night sweat sums,
to pool that persistence.

Until it breaks,
or life it takes,
on the other side of existence.

See it coming in the distance?
