A New Day

A new day is dawning,
Cool, bright and clear.
All creatures are yawning,
Rising this time of year.

Thoughts that held you,
In dreams so tight.
So vivid to view,
Are gone with the night .

Clear the cobwebs,
From your mind’s eye.
Stretch your muscles,
The better to live by.

Yesterday is gone,
With all its pain.
Like dirty water,
Down the drain.

A new day awaits,
All promise and bright.
Had better get to it.
Between now and night.

Many things are planned,
Many are due.
There is no time to waste,
Before this new day is through.
